Jeff Neely

With consulting experience that encompasses North and South America, Europe, Japan and Africa, Jeff Neely leads most worldwide engagements, challenging executive management to re-evaluate their fundamental business models and planning processes. His provocative approach balances established and emerging theory with practical business consequences and concrete next steps. In addition to the numerous USA assignments, he has successfully applied The Atlantis Group process to Regional and Global top management challenge workshops in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne, Lisbon, Monte Carlo, Antwerp, Tokyo, Wellington. Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City.

Prior to The Atlantis Group, Neely worked for Barclays Bank in South Africa and went on to hold top-level positions with Johnson & Johnson in Africa, Europe, Canada and the USA, heading-up sales, marketing, country company management, international management and worldwide category management. He was involved in the development of start-up ventures in both Russia and China, and in pioneering Global Franchise Management programs.

A highly-sought expert on Corporate Strategy that challenges convention, he has been invited to address numerous groups throughout the world and has presented at several international business conferences.

Kathy Beaudoin brings a unique perspective to the businesses in healthcare resulting from her 8 years of pharma consulting experience, and her executive marketing and sales career in the pharmaceutical industry. With 25 years of hands-on leadership experience in the industry (17 years with Merck) Kathy leads most global pharma-specific engagements, working with executive and senior management teams – to clarify complex business issues, challenge convention, and derive actionable insights leading to innovation and growth. Having led a number of matrixed teams, she also acknowledges the important influence of internal company environments and cultures on the uptake of new strategies, and therefore designs highly executable solutions that motivate, align and mobilize organizations into action.

Prior to becoming a partner at The Atlantis Group, Kathy Beaudoin founded PSA, Inc, a strategic management consulting firm, specializing in product launch solutions and formulating business strategies. She directed significant projects with BMS, J&J, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Pharmacia, Merck, NIH, and Apothecon. During her career at Merck, she held executive management positions in both marketing and sales, participated in the launch of 14 products, and led the marketing teams for the launches of Mevacor and Fosamax (both billion dollar products). She has designed new businesses entities, created innovative market development partnerships, pioneered new organizational centers of excellence, lead special task forces on market and business expansion, and spearheaded successful co-promotional agreements. Her business practices and solutions serve as benchmarks at numerous pharma companies, leading to highly valued and sustained relationships with her clients.

Kathy is a member of the American Management Association, the Healthcare Business Woman’s Association, and frequently lectures on strategy formation, break-through thinking, data visualization, and customer priorities.

Cathryn Gunther

Cathryn applies her extensive healthcare marketing and executive sales leadership experience to the analysis and creation of strategic business solutions for The Atlantis Group, Inc. clients. Her own firm, Graham Group Consulting LLC, was merged with The Atlantis Group in 2002, based on complementary capabilities and enhanced client offerings. Cathryn has consulted to Fortune 500 Companies, including Merck, AstraZeneca, Johnson and Johnson’s Pharmaceutical Businesses Ortho-McNeil and Janssen, Glaxo, Roche, EMD Pharmaceuticals, Pharmacia, and McKesson and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She has extensive experience transitioning strategy and business planning competencies to physician groups as well, including specialty group practices, regional managed care companies and global non-profit physician associations, such as the World Organization of Family Doctors.

Prior to founding her own company, she established a highly successful 20-year career in the Pharmaceutical Industry. She was instrumental in transforming a start-up joint venture into a $5 Billion dollar marketing company, and contributed significant intellectual capital to the design, development and realization of a unique ‘work team/profit center’ structure for field-based business units. She translated formative marketing strategies into sales force deliverables, and drove a myriad of business initiatives within a matrixed organization.

Joseph McGovern

Joe brings a broad range of US and global pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare marketing and management experience to his client interactions. Joe is an innovative marketing and business development leader with over 30 years of healthcare business experience. His successes include the first launches of seven new prescription drugs, one of which is the world-leading antibiotic Augmentin, plus eight successful prescription-to-over-the-counter switch projects in 13 countries.

Joe's extensive track record includes initiating major new business development opportunities, discovering breakthrough consumer insights and developing advertising in many categories. He is an expert at leading high-performing cross-functional teams in complex, multinational and partnership settings. With tenures at GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer, he has worked in 23 countries and has held senior line and strategic positions in the UK, the US and international markets. For 10 years, he was also a board member for an international non-profit organization.

Kenneth P. Yale, DDS, JD Ken Yale is Vice President Business Strategies and General Counsel for EduNeering, Inc, a leading online training solutions company. Dr. Yale has twenty years experience in health care operations, regulations, and technology, and has assisted dozens of health organizations in understanding and adapting to the complex business and regulatory environment. Dr. Yale also oversees government liaison, new product development, and marketing efforts for the Healthcare division. Prior to joining EduNeering, Dr. Yale was President and CEO of Advanced Health Solutions (AHS), a regulatory compliance consulting firm, which merged with EduNeering. While at AHS Dr. Yale was involved with passage of major legislation, including the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. He and a team of consultants were the first to combine and operationalize the DITSCAP and HIPAA information technology regulations in a health organization. Previously, he was President of Jefferson Healthcare Compliance Solutions, a subsidiary of The Jefferson Group.

Before building the consulting business, Dr. Yale had a distinguished career in the federal government. He was Chief of Staff of the White House Office of Science and Technology, and served as Special Assistant to the President and Executive Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council. In the Office of Science and Technology Dr. Yale helped develop federal government policy and regulations dealing with leading edge technologies. As head of the Domestic Policy Council Dr. Yale worked with many government agencies to develop legislation and regulations. Prior to his White House duties Dr. Yale served as Legislative Counsel in the U.S. Senate, where he was involved in policy development and passage of major health and technology legislation. Before working in the U.S. Senate he was a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service and an instructor at Georgetown University.

Ken Yale currently provides leadership and active participation in the following health industry IT and policy organizations: URAC Health Website Accreditation Committee, Information Technology Privacy and Security Standards Development Committee, NIST/URAC/WEDI Health Information Workgroup, HIMSS Security and Privacy Task Force, and the Bureau of National Affairs Advisory Board. He is past chair of the ABA Cyberspace Law Committee Task Force on e-Health and Information Privacy and is an advisor to two web-related companies.

Dr. Yale received a Bachelor of Arts from Creighton University, a dental doctorate from the University of Maryland, a finance planning degree from University of Missouri, and a J.D. from Georgetown University. He is a frequent writer and speaker on technology and regulatory topics, and author of numerous books and articles on health and technology.

Zeev Neuwirth, MD is a practicing general internist and medical educator. The focus of his career over the past decade has been in ‘relationship-centered’ health care. In addition to his studies and research in health care communication and relationship building, he has trained at the world-renowned Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy - certifying as a family therapist. He has also trained in group dynamics - certifying as a group therapist at the East Side Institute in Manhattan. Dr. Neuwirth’s most recent academic affiliation has been as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine. Currently, he is pursuing a Masters in Healthcare Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. He is also currently helping to create and implement a ‘Leadership Development’ curriculum at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital Primary Care Residency Training Program. Dr. Neuwirth has extensive training and experience in organizational development and health care consulting. He is an active consultant and advisor to physician groups and health care organizations. His seminars are innovative and performance-based, with titles such as ‘The Philosophy of Healing’, ‘Listening as a Healthful Intervention’, ‘Healing the Healers’, ‘Understanding the Medical Mindset’, and ‘The Performance of Doctoring.’ His articles on humanistic healthcare have been published in medical journals as well as publications such as The New York Times and Newsweek. His pioneering efforts have also been featured in Forbes, Fast Company, and WebMD. Dr. Neuwirth attended Tufts University graduating Summa cum laude, Phi beta kappa in 1983 and The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine graduating in 1987. He currently resides in Boston with his wife, Lisa, who is also a physician.

Charles F. Scholhamer Jr MD, MBA practiced gastroenterology for 25 years and currently is COO of a highly respected GI group practice in New Haven, CT. He held the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine during this time, and has published several articles in the field of gastroenterology. Dr. Scholhamer possesses an unusual combination of both business acumen and clinical/medical expertise. While managing a busy practice, he spearheaded a number of business initiatives within his group, including managed care contracting and negotiations, information systems implementation, Medicare and managed care compliance programs, etc. Having recently received an M.B.A for Healthcare Professionals, he is responsible for business planning and development for his practice. He has been involved in a number of consulting initiatives both with physician groups and health care organizations, providing insight and expertise on go-to-market models, e-connectivity in health care and strategic planning. Dr. Scholhamer graduated from Yale University cum laude, received his medical degree at the Yale University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine internship/residency and gastroenterology fellowship program at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and the Yale University School of Medicine respectively. He lives with his wife in Madison, CT.

Jim Wilson, R.Ph, MBA A third generation pharmacist, Jim has 20 years of industry experience. Prior to forming his own company, Jim was Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Caredata, a healthcare consumer research company. He also held sales and marketing management positions at Hoffmann-La Roche, IMS America, SMG Marketing Group and Medical Data International (MDI). Jim received both his Masters of Business Administration in Health Administration and Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from Temple University in Philadelphia. He has worked within the hospital, chain, community, and wholesale pharmacy settings and as a Hospital Administrator at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. As an active member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) since 1990, he was co-author of the chapter on member satisfaction and member services for the AMCP Managed Care Pharmacy Practice textbook and published an article on Medicare Member Satisfaction in Clinical Therapeutics. Jim has developed and introduced information on a wide range of healthcare topics and has presented consumer and pharmacy customer satisfaction survey results at a number of national and regional industry meetings including: AMCP, NMHCC, AAHP, ACOG, NACDS, FMI, NCPA and others. As President of WilsonRx™, Jim works closely with health plans, PBMs, pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies to help them assess and improve their competitive position. independently collects and reports consumer perceptions of their pharmacy, PBM, health plan and medical treatment as well as the advice and opinions of physicians, pharmacists and payers.

Michael Rossi, PhD Dr. Rossi’s 16 years of pharmaceutical and biotech industry expertise resides in drug discovery and the market development of candidate compounds. His relevant experience includes; leadership of joint venture drug discovery projects, cell and molecular biology discovery teams and various scientific management positions at 3M Pharmaceuticals, Astra Merck and AstraZeneca. Dr. Rossi has post-doctoral fellowship training at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in molecular biology, cell biology and The University of Pennsylvania in immunology. His scientific concentration is in cardiovascular, pulmonary and inflammatory diseases. Michael has taught Human Anatomy and Physiology at a number of medical schools. But, his major educational efforts are directed at meeting the changing needs of the healthcare industry. He has designed and delivered curricula on Clinical Study Design and Management, Health Outcomes Research, Evidence Based Medicine and Statistical Methods for Clinical Pharmacists. As Vice President, Drug Discovery at Inologic, Inc. he recently lead drug discovery projects in cystic fibrosis, inflammation and radio-protection utilizing an inositol-polyphosphate signaling molecule strategy. Dr. Rossi currently consults with the pharmaceutical industry on strategic planning and strategic change.

Ethel Klein, PhD is a human rights activist and educator. She designs strategic education campaigns for non-profit organization and foundations on issues of women’s rights, low-income housing, environmental protection, gay and lesbian rights, work and family policies, health education, and tax reform. As an analyst of American Politics, she taught at Harvard University and Columbia University. She wrote Gender Politics, a groundbreaking text explaining why men and women approach politics differently, co-authored Elections of 1988: Reports and Interpretations) which analyzed public opinion trends, and is the primary author of Ending Domestic Violence: Changing Public Perceptions / Halting the Epidemic, which outlines the importance of public education in reducing violence against women.
